The intervention will focus on the presentation of the kit "Safety Gym: a manual for brave young people ready for any emergency".
This innovative project was born from the collaboration between the Progettoautismo FVG Foundation and the Civil Protection of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, and it is an operational manual designed to teach vulnerable individuals, particularly those with intellectual disabilities and autism, how to manage emergency situations.
The kit aims to:
- Increase awareness and preparedness for emergencies through simple language and the use of clear illustrations, created also by people with autism.
- Provide practical tools and clear procedures to address different types of hazards.
- Promote the autonomy and safety of the most vulnerable individuals, training them to respond effectively and with the least possible trauma.
- Facilitate the work of rescuers and reference persons by providing a shared protocol for interaction and emergency management with individuals with special needs.
To ensure maximum effectiveness, the project is not limited to just the manual but includes a tailored training programme designed for the various recipients. Specific and targeted pathways are indeed provided for children, training sessions for operators and teachers, and workshops dedicated to adults with ASD, ensuring that skills are conveyed in the most appropriate way for each group.
The ultimate goal is to build a more inclusive and safe society for all, where no one is left behind, especially in times of greatest need.
